Are You a Candidate for Body Contouring?

Do you work out, eat right, and consistently commit yourself to a healthy lifestyle but still feel there are aspects about the way your body looks that you would change if you could? While working out and staying active is a great first step, the sad truth is many of us still struggle with a few little areas we feel could be improved. These areas, such as the chin, neck, thighs, buttocks, and love handles, are often resistant to natural weight loss techniques.

Sometimes you wish you could wave a magic wand and sculpt your body to look the way you wanted it to. Fortunately, Dr. Tuan Doan and the rest of our team at S.Aesthetics.MD understand this desire. That’s why we offer body contouring in our office to patients who are candidates for the procedure.

The lowdown on body contouring

Body contouring is a noninvasive, nonsurgical treatment that allows you to control how targeted areas of your body will look. Dr. Doan utilizes one of two methods to achieve the effects of body contouring.

One of these treatments is a radiofrequency treatment called Lumenis® that tightens the skin while heating the fat cells. After the fat cells heat up, they die, and the body naturally flushes them out. According to a 2017 study, this method of body contouring was found to be highly effective after five to eight treatments.

The other method is called mesotherapy. Mesotherapy uses needles to introduce vitamins, medications, and other substances into the treatment area. These substances then help to eliminate the fat cells, producing a similar effect to the radiofrequency treatment. Both methods are available at our Rocklin, California, office.

Candidates for body contouring

You might be asking, who is eligible for body contouring? And which one of these treatments is right for you? First, it’s important that Dr. Doan has the opportunity to discuss the program with you. Some traits will increase your chances of being a good candidate for body contouring.

You are in exceptional physical health

Physical health is one of the most important aspects of eligibility for body contouring. This treatment is meant to help with small to moderate areas of excess fat. As such, you’ll want to be in control of your weight, eating right, and exercising regularly. If you are in good physical health, you will be more likely to experience beneficial results of body contouring.

You are realistic about the procedure

Everyone experiences varying results from body contouring, so don’t expect to look exactly like a friend or a celebrity who has had the procedure. Also, you’ll want to make sure you understand that, although it’s much less invasive than surgery, body contouring is still a medical procedure from which you’ll need some time to recover.

You know what you want — and how to achieve it

To achieve optimal results, you should know what you want from the procedure and also have realistic goals. Yes, belly fat can be smoothed and toned, but it probably won’t be entirely melted away, especially if you still carry excess weight. Understand the procedure’s benefits and ask plenty of questions when you consult with Dr. Doan.

You’re a nonsmoker

If you’re a smoker, it can increase your risk of side effects associated with the procedure. In addition, smoking can make it harder for your body to heal after the procedure is over, which will put an extra strain on you. If you have been smoking, now’s the time to quit.

Which treatment is right for me?

You may be a good candidate for either type of body contouring treatment, or one could be a better option for you than the other. Either way, it’s important to discuss the procedures with Dr. Doan and to determine which treatment is right for you.
